General Ethics - Texas LPC - 2Units

Though the rules and regulations within the Code of Ethics of Texas LPC's do not change readily or radically, there continue to be misunderstandings and misinterpretations of the board's expectations. This couse will provide the LPC with the opportunity to refine his or her understanding of the paramters put in place the the Texas Board of Examiners for Licensed Professional Counselors, and to protect him or herself from unintentionally violating board policy or code.

Target Audience

This course is designed for healthcare providers. Specifically, it is designed for Licensed Professional Counselors in the state of Texas, or any other provider that is likely to gain professionally from increased knowledge in the subject area. It is appropriate for any provider that is likely to come into contact with those dealing with issues related to the topic of ethics in the course of practice.

Teaching Methods

CEUstore.com provides continuing education opportunities for the clinician or practitioner via the World Wide Web. Each person who chooses a course, absorbs the information provided, and subsequently scores 70% or above on the associated test will be provided a certificate of completion that will show the clinician or practitioner has mastered the information provided. Learning Objectives

The objective of this course is to familiarize the learner with the ethical guidelines, boundaries, and expectations of the professional aligned with the Board of Examiners of Texas Licensed Professional Counselors. The course is intended to assist clinicians and others with enhancing knowledge of the subject. Ethical failure on the part of many mental health practitioners make it more important to ensure that each practitioner has a working knowledge of the parameters of his or her professional governing boards.

Skill Development

At the completion of this course the student will be able to:

  1. Identify ethical boundaries and guildelines specific to his or her professional association
  2. Be informed of special areas of practice and the expectations thereof
  3. Maintain the peace of mind that the practitioner is operating within the guidelines of his or her professional association
  4. Correctly answer 70% of multiple choice questions in a quiz over the material provided
